Basic Skills Requirement (Commonly referred to as the CBEST)
The State of California requires all credential candidates to verify basic skills proficiency in basic reading, mathematics, and writing skills through one of several ways. Please review the list of accepted methods for fulfilling the Basic Skills requirement by completing the Basic Skills requirement form, and either email the form to email@example.com or deliver the form in person at 1362 Earth and Physical Sciences building.
Registering for the CSET and/or CBEST tests can be done ONLY in person. Please make an appointment with Susann Pinter at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please include "CSET/CBEST" and your name in the subject line. CalTeach/MAST students are eligible for up to 3 Math CSET tests OR 2 Science CSET tests and the CBEST only if Basic Skills requirements are not satisfied through any of the methods specified on the Basic Skills Requirement form. No late fees or test retakes will be paid.
Test/s must be taken either while enrolled as a UC Davis student after successfully passing either CalTeach/MAST II (GEL/EDU 181) and/or CalTeach/MAST III (GEL/EDU 183) while a UC Davis student, or as a recent UC Davis graduate (no more than one year after date of graduation)
