California Subject Examinations for Teachers (CSET)

The California Subject Examinations for Teachers® (CSET®) have been developed by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for prospective teachers who choose to or are required to meet specific requirements for certification by taking examinations. For additional testing information go to http://www.ctcexams.nesinc.com

Basic Skills Requirement (Commonly referred to as the CBEST)

The State of California requires all credential candidates to verify basic skills proficiency in basic reading, mathematics, and writing skills through one of several ways. Please review the list of accepted methods for fulfilling the Basic Skills requirement, complete the form, and either email the form to mast@ucdavis.edu or deliver the form in person at Everson Hall, Room 104.

Before registering for these tests, please contact mast@ucdavis.edu. The easiest way for us to help you with the costs is for you to register for the tests IN OUR OFFICE.

If you have already signed up for your tests, submit all testing receipts to mbstevenson@ucdavis.edu within 15 days of payment. Please include "CSET/CBEST" and your name in the subject line.
